Bio

Jaxon Dunaway is a 21-year-old guitarist/singer songwriter based in Hattiesburg, MS. He is a student at the University of Southern Mississippi studying Music Education (guitar).

Jaxon has been surrounded by music throughout his entire life and has a diverse set of musical influences that have created an eclectic blend of Blues, Jazz, R&B, and Soul within his writing and playing style.

He plays music solo, as well as with Hattiesburg-based indie rock band, the Fogies. He is an active member of the Pride of Mississippi marching band, and he is involved in the Jazz Studies program at USM through their premier jazz ensemble, Jazz Lab Band 1. He is a current student of Dr. Nicholas Ciraldo, Mr. Larry Panella, and Nashville-based guitarist Adam McPhail.

Through his academic endeavors, he has been afforded the opportunity of performing in concert with many large ensembles with guest artists such as Lou Marini of Blues Brothers and Saturday Night Live fame, and former director of the Grammy-nominated One O’clock Lab Band, Steve Wiest. He has also performed at the state ACDA/MMEA conference, as well as various recitals, including solo, studio, and doctoral recitals.

Jaxon has also been a very active member of the music ministry at New Zion UPC in Philadelphia, MS, where he has played lead guitar since the age of 15-years-old. This has led to opportunities to play in many regional revivals and serve the community in his hometown.  He has also recently taken on a new music ministry endeavor at Trinity Heights Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he will be taking on the lead guitar position.
